In this private tour, you will have the opportunity to explore nature, history and tradition of the region of Lasithi Plateau with it’s 15 picturesque villages and Knossos Palace by official tourism guide.
On our way to Lasithi plateau we ‘ll stop at the Aposelemis Dam and the unique floated village of Sfendyli. Upon Arrival at Lasithi we will first visit the old wind mills and the famous Zeus cave. The Zeus Cave, is located at an altitude of 1020 m with the fantastic stalactites and stalagmites, which is the largest and one of most visited sites in Crete.

The last and the best stop of the tour, is exploring with official tourism guide the capital of Minoan civilization Knossos Palace. Explore the oldest civilization of Europe, Minoan civilization with more than 4000 years of history. Visit traditional villages, old wind mills and of course we’ll enjoy Cretan traditional lunch in family taverna.
Lasithi is a region of 15 spectacular panoramic villages set in the Mountains and Tzermiado is the biggest and the capital of Lasithi. Lasithi is known worldwide for two things, for Its 12.000 windmills and Zeus cave. There were about 12.000-13.000 windmills pumping groundwater and it was the first and largest wind farm in Europe, but most have now been replaced by electric or petrol pumps. Apples and pears, cherries and plums, pomegranates and quins, strawberries, nuts, almonds, grapes, potatoes and tomatoes, lettuce, aubergines, artichokes, and much much more are grown on the Lasithi Plateau, since hundred of years ago.
Dikteon Cave, Psychro Cave, or Zeus Cave which is located about a kilometer from the village Psychro at the height of 1025 meters.
Named Dikteon Cave because it is nestled in Dikteon Range Mountains, Psychro Cave because is located in this village, and Zeus Cave because according to the mythology Zeus was born here. This is an impressive cave and one of the most visited sites in Crete.
On the way to Lasithi Plateau, you’ll have the opportunity to see, breath the smell and collect, some of the medicinal herbs of the region. Afterwards, we will stop near Kera monastery for traditional Cretan lunch. After the lunch, we will visit a 4th generation olive oil factory where we will do an olive oil tasting and learn all about olive oil production.
The last and the best stop of the tour, is exploring with official tourism guide the capital of Minoan civilization Knossos Palace.

We made Zeus Cave and Knossos Palace private tour and we loved it. Spiro welcomed us in the terminal in the correct time and he is knowledgeable, funny and always ready to answer to our questions and curiosities.
Both sites were amazing, specially the Knossos Palace and it’s history.
We ended the tour having lunch in small tavern with Cretan food, wine and raki.

Let me say from start to finish, Spyros, our tour guide was the best! He was on time at the pick up point, very knowledgeable, engaging and made us feel very welcomed. He even ordered a birthday cake for one of our friends as a surprise. The lunch at the Taverna was delicious. The ride up to Zeus cave was beautiful and the walk up to the cave was challenging but I made it! I would highly recommend Spyros for this tour. He was very enjoyable!
