<p>Lasithi is a region of 16 spectacular panoramic villages set in the Mountains and Tzermiado is the biggest and the capital of Lasithi. Lasithi is known worldwide for two things, for Its 12.000 windmills and Zeus cave. There were about 12.000-13.000 windmills pumping groundwater and it was the first and largest wind farm in Europe, but most have now been replaced by electric or petrol pumps. Apples and pears, cherries and plums, pomegranates and quins, strawberries, nuts, almonds, grapes, potatoes and tomatoes, lettuce, aubergines, artichokes, and much much more are grown on the Lasithi Plateau, since hundred  of years ago.</p>

<p>Dikteon Cave, Psychro Cave, or Zeus Cave which is located about a kilometer from the village Psychro at the height of 1025 meters.<br />
Named Dikteon Cave because it is nestled in Dikteon Range Mountains, Psychro Cave because is located in this village, and Zeus Cave because according to the mythology Zeus was born here. This is an impressive  cave  and one of the most visited sites in Crete.</p>

<p>On the way to Lasithi Plateau, you&#8217;ll have the opportunity to see, breath the smell and collect, some of  the medicinal herbs of the region. Afterwards, we will stop near Kera monastery for traditional Cretan lunch.</p>

<p>After the lunch, we will visit a 4th generation olive oil factory where we will do an olive oil tasting and learn all about olive oil production.</p>
